Creole Dancer was foaled on March 13th, 1983. He was bred by Mrs. Jackie L. Burleson in Texas. His sire, Dancing Dervish, made only one start on the track which he won handily over eventual Hall of Fame inductee, Gun Bow. Dancing Dervish sired both Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses. His top Quarter Horse starters included stakes winners Dancing Butler, Native Empress, and Gray Dancer. Creole Dancer was among Dancing Dervish’s last foal crop. E. Cee Miss, the dam of Creole Dancer, was a race-winning mare by Wig Out and out of Paint In, by Fool’s Paint. In the fall of 1981, E. Cee Miss was claimed for $6,500 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She broke down and needed surgery before being shipped to Texas. Everything went well and E. Cee Miss was able to join Burleson’s small band of broodmares. The rest is Texas racing history.

As a two-year-old, Creole Dancer won three of four starts at Louisiana Downs, including the $150,000 Friendship Stakes. He was named Champion Two-Year-Old of the race meet. Creole Dancer did not race at age three. He had to have multiple surgeries to remove bone chips and required an entire year of rehabilitation. In February of 1987, Creole Dancer came back to win an allowance race at Oaklawn Park. His second start off his yearlong layoff was in the six-furlong Carousel Handicap. He won the race in stakes record time. Creole Dancer was then shipped to Omaha, Nebraska where he defeated a field of nine stakes winners in the Ak-Sar-Ben Handicap. He also placed second in the City of Omaha Handicap while in Nebraska. At age five, he won the Gold Cup Handicap at Delta Downs and placed third in the Mutual Savings Life Spring Championship Handicap at Fair Grounds. Creole Dancer retired from racing with a record of eighteen starts, eight wins, one second, two thirds, and $240,044 in earnings.

Creole Dancer stood at Alamo Stud Farm in Lytle, Texas. His speed and conformation immediately attracted Quarter Horse breeders. Among his 1990 foal crop was Kid Creole, a bay gelding out of an Easily Smashed mare. Kid Creole placed third in the Gr. 3 Higheasterjet Handicap at Ruidoso Downs and earned an AQHA Superior Race Horse designation. His best Quarter Horse starter, Featuring Creole, was foaled in 1993. Featuring Creole was bred by Bob Putt. He was a sorrel gelding out of Enter My Feature, by Gastroenterologo. Featuring Creole won the Gr. 3 Pauls Valley Handicap and San Marcos Handicap. He won a total of fourteen starts and earned $126,068 on the track. Other top Quarter Horse starters by Creole Dancer include Allies Dancer, Alamo Dancer and Snip Crackle Pop.

His best Thoroughbred starter was stakes winner Fauffy. He also sired Thoroughbred stakes contenders Creole Twister, Lady Mojo, Pure Imagination, Creoles Classy Act, and Creoles Blue Devil. In total, Creole Dancer sired 210 registered Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse foals in nine foal crops. Among those foals were 94 race-winners, 53 ROM-earners, twelve stakes finalists, eight stakes placers, and two stakes winners, with earnings of $1,746,741 on the track.
As with many Thoroughbred sires of Quarter Horses, Creole Dancer was more successful as a broodmare sire. His daughter Bicoastal produced two graded stakes winners – Coastal Memories and Bens Coasting. Coastal Memories won the Gr. 1 Heritage Place Futurity and Bens Coasting won the Gr. 2 Sam Houston Derby. Furthermore, Bicoastal produced Gonna Move You, the dam of Gr. 1 Ruidoso Derby winner Jess Move You and 1D barrel horse Tres Move You. Dancing Turf, another great daughter of Creole Dancer, produced stakes finalists Lindsayshadowdancer, Maddies Special Turf, Turf Cash, and Turfinureyes.
Cerole Dancer is also the dam sire of Si Puede, a bay mare by Holland Ease. Si Puede won the Gr. 2 Houston Derby, Gr. 2 Sunland Park Fall Derby, Gr. 3 TQHA Classic Stakes, Gr. 3 Rheudasil Handicap, Gulf Coast Stakes, and Miss Houston Stakes. In 2005, she won eight races in a row and ten races total, which ranked her first by wins that year. Unfortunately, Si Puede died after an accident in the paddock at Sam Houston Race Park. Her final race record was twenty starts, fourteen wins, three seconds, three thirds, and $266,600 in earnings. Other graded stakes winners out of mares by Creole Dancer include Mr Bar Code and Lassie O Toole. He is also the dam sire of barrel racing money earners A Toast to Indigo, Mystic Mayhem, and Bullys Easy Bux.
Creole Dancer’s last foals were born in 1999. He was inducted into the Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2017.
